Weight is a topic that no one ever wants to talk about. Society says that it’s rude to ask someone what they weigh and while that may be true, people from all walks of life suffer from obesity. I’d rather not harp on the topic either, but I do want to point out some facts concerning weight.
Whether you are underweight, overweight, or just the right weight, your weight plays a role in your health! If you are underweight or have poor nutrition, then you run the risk of malnutrition, vitamin deficiencies, anemia, or even osteoporosis. It would do your body good to try to put on some weight and build some lean muscle mass. A strong body functions much better than a skinny, but weak body. The stronger that you are, the more efficient your body is at using oxygen! If you feel like you may be underweight, the best thing to do is see your doctor for confirmation and to receive a nutrition plan.
If you happen to be overweight, know that the very best thing you can do for your health is to lose the extra weight. Carrying around extra weight makes it harder for your entire body to function. Your joints and bones have more pressure on them. It’s harder to breathe because your lungs are having to lift the extra weight every time you take a breath in. Even the slightest bit of extra weight can cause shortness of breath! Obesity can cause a whole slew of problems too: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high blood sugar, strokes, and heart disease. Simply put, if you need to lose weight, please do it for yourself. You deserve to live a long and prosperous life!!! It’s never too late to start taking better care of yourself.
